The Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, public cultural institution that operates under the authority of Cluj County Council, invites you to participate to the promotion conference of the project “Innovative Techniques in Cultural Heritage Valorisation. The Icons on Sebeș Valley in the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography collection” financed by EEA Grants 2014-2021, within the RO-CULTURE Program.

The event is organised by the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography in partnership with the Technical University in Cluj-Napoca and NUDA AS from Bergen, Norway within the project Innovative Techniques in Cultural Heritage Valorisation. The Icons on Sebeș Valley in the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography collection, financed by EEA Grants 2014-2021, within the RO-CULTURE Program.
Beside the outputs resulted from the process of digitisation and the proposals of digital restoration of the icons on glass, the conference will debate the aspects related to the techniques specific to the real restoration process of these icons.
In addition, during the conference digital applications will be presented that will be made within the projects, applications that would offer the virtual users a new and interactive way of perceiving the folk art values.
The project “Innovative Techniques in Cultural Heritage Valorisation. The Icons on Sebeș Valley in the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography collection” aims to facilitate the access of the visitors to the glass icons originating in Sebes Valley area, found in the collections of the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography, artefacts of an aesthetic and documentary rare value, painted by generations of peasant artists.
These true treasures of folk art will be capitalized both by direct exposure and by using innovative techniques in the field of virtual reality for the complete exploration of painting, materials and execution techniques. During the project there will be restored and preserved for being displayed 66 heritage goods at which the access of the large public is difficult.
For the implementation of the project, the Transylvanian Museum of Ethnography was granted a non-reimbursable financing from the EEA Grants 2014-2021, within the RO-CULTURE Program, amounting 618,161.000 lei, the equivalent of 129,265.59 Euro. The project with a development period of 24 months is already in the eleven month of implementation.
